COOL Food Pantry Waukegan

The  number of visitors to COOL Food Pantry continues to rise astronomically with many months bringing more than 6000 individuals to COOL to receive groceries.  COOL needs your help more than ever to provide meals to thousands of Lake County families this year.

At COOL, visitors receive food based on family size. COOL distributes prepacked boxes and bags of staples plus at least 1 pound of frozen meat per family member. Guests can also choose many items daily from our bread shelves, produce tables and more.

Upon arrival guests simply take a number and are served in turn. Families will meet briefly with a staff member or volunteer who verifies their identity, need and family size.  Most visitors are served and on their way within 15 minutes of their arrival at the pantry.

Volunteers Needed

Pantry helpers are in great need at COOL pantry in Waukegan. Could you work a shift once per week distributing food boxes at the pantry? Box packers are also needed. Others are needed to drive our truck and help pick up groceries. If you are interested in helping with the important work of Feeding the Hungry at COOL please call Cindy Hinkemeyer at 847-662-1230. Shifts are from 8:30 AM to 2 PM Monday-Friday.

Donations Welcome

There are many ways to help COOL feed the hungry. Making donations couldn’t be easier. Scout groups, clubs and others often enjoy holding food drives and competing to see who can collect the most help for the pantry.  Please consider holding a food drive to collect food for your neighbors in need. Churches and businesses are encouraged to place collection bins in prominent places encouraging others who can help to do so.
